Episode 3: Carpool Queen

Some days I wake up and I am ready to go. I have my coffee, get dressed in my mom uniform (leggings, t-shirt, New Balance), make the kids lunches, and get all the things done without having to rush out the door to bring the big kids to school.

And then pretty much all of the other days that doesn’t happen at all. I make my coffee, and get busy begging my kids to wake up, get dressed, brush their hair, and brush their teeth. Then they complain about every single item that goes into their lunch box and tell me that they would rather eat school lunch. So we read the menu for schools lunch and of course their response is how DISGUSTING that is and they can’t eat that so they need for me to pack their lunch. Then the other one walks up and we do that all over again. Then I remember I made some coffee…….. but its cold. So I cringe as I take a few sips because I surely don’t want to waste an entire cup of coffee. All of this while realizing it is 7:52 am and we need to leave in like 5 minutes or the kids will be rushed to get into their classrooms. So I run out of the house…. in my night gown…and my husbands Crocs….with a new fresh cup of coffee to enjoy (and hopefully not spill) while yelling at the kids to get in the car and buckle up. Do I have a bra on? No. Did I brush MY hair? No. Did I brush MY teeth? Again, no. But, are my kids ready and at school on time? Absolutely.

And no matter what chaos happens from wakeup time to drop off time I always leave them with the same messages as they get out of my van:

  1. What kind of Dojo’s will we get today? (Up’s)

  2. What kind of student will you be today? (a good listener and respectful)

  3. What kind of friend will you be today? (kind)

  4. And last but not least, what will you have at school today? (fun!!!!)
